History

In 1996, Laurentian Bank of Canada acquired North American Trust’s personal and commercial portfolios. Although most activities were merged into the Bank's Retail division, advisor sourced activities did not fit within the Bank's operations so a new division was formed, known as Agency Banking. Four years later, on March 1, 2000, Laurentian Bank purchased Sun Life Trust and merged the business with the Agency Banking division. The resulting organization was renamed B2B Trust in July, 2000.[3]

B2B Trust became public in June, 2001 and was traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange with the ticker symbol BBT.[4] It was privatized in 2004 and is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Laurentian Bank of Canada.[5]

On June 18, 2010, Francois Desjardins, President & CEO, B2B Trust and Rejean Robitaille, President and CEO, Laurentian Bank, both accompanied Robert Fotheringham, Senior Vice President, Trading, TMX Group to open the market in celebration of B2B Trust's 10 year anniversary. Also in June 2010, Francois Desjardins was a named on Canada's Top 40 Under 40 list.

The company’s head office is located in Toronto’s financial district. It has offices in Halifax, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.
